MacSoft on Tuesday announced the release of a playable demo version of Age of Empires III, its popular real-time strategy game for the Macintosh. The demo is 419MB.
The sequel to one of MacSoft’s best-selling games, Age of Empires III takes players back to the era of exploration, as they travel from Europe to the New World, playing through two dozen scenarios as explorer Morgan Black and his descendants — helping the Aztecs resist Spanish occupation, pitting the French against the British, and helping Simon Bolivar lead revolutions in South America.
The demo itself features two missions from the single-player campaign and a single-player skirmish game where you can play as the British or Spanish in the New England and Texas maps.
Rated T for Teen by the ESRB, Age of Empires III costs $54.99. System requirements call for a G4/1.4GHz or faster (Intel included), Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, 512MB RAM, 64MB VRAM and a video card capable of doing hardware transform and lighting (that excludes Intel Mac minis and MacBooks).
