The port was to be handled by Feral Interactive, who are quite good at porting games to Mac and Linux. Their credits include Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution among many others. Unfortunately, they won’t get the chance to port the latest Arkham game to Mac or Linux.
“We are very sorry to confirm that Batman: Arkham Knight will no longer be coming to Mac and Linux,” reads the statement on the game’s Steam forums. “If you have pre-ordered Batman: Arkham Knight for Mac or Linux, please apply for a refund via Steam.”
Of course, this really isn’t all that surprising. Rocksteady and Warner Bros. never could get the original PC version to actually work. After pulling it from Steam at launch, Rocksteady still couldn’t fix the game and were forced to offer full refunds again. Despite Feral Interactive’s excellent portfolio, not even they could have fixed the mess that is the Batman: Arkham Knight PC version, much less port it to Mac OS X and Linux.
